I thought I'd add one more gripe to your list of Ms. Northover's egregious errors: The phrase "atonal composer Pierre Schaeffer" is misleading. Did Schaeffer compose atonal music? Usually the adjective "atonal," when used in conjunction with electronic music, is reserved for composers who were influenced by serial music, not concrète composers. In fact, Schaeffer was extraordinarily critical of atonality and the rationalist means by which it was organized (he called it, derisively, "music a priori").
